Arts Therapies for Children

Registered charity number: 1167912
Arts Therapies for Children provides children (ages 4-11) suffering from trauma and poor mental health affordable creative therapeutic support to safely process their experiences, helping those in need and their families to heal, grow and hope.

What our donation will help fund

Your donation will fund more than 200 affordable and accessible art and play therapy sessions for vulnerable children (ages 4-11) who are suffering from poor mental health and trauma. (Some 7 children will each receive on average 30 sessions across an academic year). Creative therapeutic support may otherwise be beyond reach for the children due to financial hardship and social stigmas. Alternatively, the children, and families/caregivers, face prohibitively long and lonely wait times for statutory services that tend to be patchy, based on what postcode the children live in. Too young to understand or verbalise their pain, our therapy gives children a safe and nurturing space to safely process complex, often frightening, thoughts and feelings without the need for words, which can be retraumatising, and at a pace that is most comfortable for them. Our early interventions and qualified therapists give children the support they need when they need it most and before issues escalate and become more costly and much harder to address later in life. Our therapy makes a meaningful difference to those we support, reducing isolation, improving communication, promoting healthier relationships and increasing resilience and confidence. Simply put, the Movement For Good is gifting children, and their families, a chance to heal, grow and hope.

“Our primary school is so fortunate to benefit from your art therapies. The referral process is sensitive and administered in a most efficient manner. The art therapist has developed excellent relationships with our pupils, who have complex challenges in their lives. The effect on these pupils is noticeable. Your art therapy is not just an extra activity for these little people, but a significant and much-relished time to develop and communicate in a meaningful way with someone they trust.’’
