What our donation will help fund
This funding will support us to provide cycling activity sessions at our private cycle track and guided rides along the Clyne Valley and Swansea Bay cycle path.
Participants will include disabled children and adults, older people, people with visual impairments, people who are recovering from stroke, people with learning disabilities and mental health problems, looked after children, young carers, refugees and asylum seekers. They will have access to our fleet of bikes which includes standard two-wheel bikes, three-wheel trikes, two person ‘side by side’ bikes and tandems, hand cycles, wheelchair and recumbent bikes.
It will also help us to deliver inclusive 1:1 learn to ride lessons, skills development and road safety courses, and to raise awareness of the need to remove physical barriers that prevent disabled people from cycling on Swansea’s cycle paths.
Participants tell us that taking part our sessions improves their emotional and physical wellbeing as well as their cycling confidence. Both participants and carers enjoy the social element of riding with others in similar situations and tell us that this helps to reduce feelings of social isolation.
