OvaCare

Registered charity number: 20081300
Our mission is to elevate awareness, accelerate diagnosis and educate women affected by ovarian cancer within Ireland, to source and share knowledge of developments in global research and best practice with the OvaCare community and to provide support and advocacy through OvaCare’s dedicated support networks.

What our donation will help fund

OvaCare is an ovarian cancer charity that provides support and advocacy for patients and families impacted by ovarian cancer. OvaCare organises an annual patient day where expert speakers address important issues from new treatments to quality-of-life issues.

In addition, we host monthly coffee and chat mornings for members. These have been a real success and have helped form a support community for many women.

OvaCare has run these as hybrid events in different venues around the country. These are free events and give patients an opportunity to meet and swap stories over a nice cup of coffee. Our community tell us these are an important and invaluable support for them.

For 2026 we are planning on getting expert speakers to talk or run a workshop at the start of the coffee and chat event, to address topics identified by our members. This can range from psychological support to research talks.

The additional funding will cover costs of speakers and will also facilitate a travel bursary for patients to attend the event in person at venues around the country.

OvaCare was co-founded by June Feeney and Rachel McKeon in 2011, following their own personal experiences with ovarian cancer. They both felt there was very little support in Ireland for women and their families affected by the disease, and they believed strongly that OvaCare could help provide this support as well as ‘giving a voice’ to the disease. Rachel outlined that "Our Vision is that all women concerned about or diagnosed with ovarian cancer have immediate access to the knowledge and support that is available, which empowers them to make critical personal and family decisions in a supportive environment" Our annual patient day and monthly coffee and chats have provided this safe space for patients and their families and has become a lifeline for many of those impacted by this dreadful disease.
