What our donation will help fund

At Ability Dogs 4 Young People, we train assistance dogs to help young people with a range of physical and mental disabilities on the Isle of Wight. Your donation of £1000 will help toward training our Ability Dogs so they can continue to improve the lives of disabled children and young people on the Isle of Wight.

Before I had Suzie (Ability Dog) I worried a lot and I found it really hard to go to places like the dentist and the supermarket, or travelling in the car in the dark. Sometimes my skin would get sore because I would get worried and itchy and scratch and make it sore. I find some clothes like school uniform uncomfortable. I still find those things hard, but Suzie makes it much easier for me to manage, and I can’t wait to see her when I come out of school every day. Suzie comes everywhere with me and because I’m thinking about her and what she needs, it makes me have less room in my head for thinking about my own worries or nervous tummy aches. I wish she could come to school with me, but I have to wait until I’m 16. Everyone at Ability Dogs work so hard and I think they love dogs nearly as much as I do! I hope I can do a job like they do one day. They get to work with dogs every day and to help people like me to be happier too. There’s lots of fundraising that happens and volunteers who look after the puppies to get them ready for coming to homes like ours. There’s a lot involved!
