Be More Ben supports families after the death of a child by providing counselling, other therapeutic support and a range of groups and meetings for the whole family.
In August, we are hosting a family day for bereaved parents, grandparents and siblings at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm. The donation from the Benefact Group will pay for entry to the zoo along with some treats for the children who have lost their brother or sister. These groups reduce feelings of isolation bereaved parents have and allow families to meet others who understand their situation. It allows families to build their own network of support and provides an opportunity to create new memories.
Planning days out can be very difficult to arrange when you are bereaved of a child as you feel guilty for wanting to do nice things without all your children. This event removes any pressure from families so they can just arrive and we’ll do the rest. Dexter’s mum said “these days are fully funded and organised by Be More Ben so we don’t have to worry about anything. We always have a fantastic time and it’s a great bonding time for all of us”. Darin’s mum tells us “it’s so lovely to connect with people who truly get how hard this journey is”.
Be More Ben supports families after the death of a child. Having lost our own son in 2018, we were made aware of the gaps in the support available and vowed to ensure no other family felt alone in their grief like we did.
We offer counselling other therapeutic support to bereaved parents and siblings, and run meetings and events for the whole family to meet others in a similar situation to their own.
With no staffing or overhead costs, every penny raised by Be More Ben is spent on the families we support. We do not receive any funding so rely on donations and fundraising to continue the work we do.
Joseph’s mum tells us “Be More Ben is a very special foundation providing a much needed service. I really feel the need for support still (14 years on) and feel like I’ve been thrown a lifeline”.
