Wigan Little Theatre

Registered charity number: 251806
Wigan Little Theatre is a voluntary organisation run by and for anyone interested in providing high quality, wide-ranging, traditional and innovative theatre, accessible to all.

What our donation will help fund

As a voluntary, charitable organisation, the theatre has been the beating heart of entertainment in Wigan for nearly 80 years. This feat has been wholly due to the members who have volunteered over the years, the season ticket holders who support us year on year and the many more patrons who regularly attend.

Whilst WLT is an amateur organisation, we deliver a very professional season of productions and all the elements of a great night out at the theatre, so we are obliged to ensure our building meets all the regulations required for a public building.

2025 has been a year of renewal, at WLT, with many improvements being made to the building such as making good the roof, relining the stage, replacing the lighting rigging above the stage and crucially the work on the fire doors. WLT is now in its 8th decade in our lovely heritage building and to ensure it continues to provide entertainment for patrons, a hobby for theatre enthusiasts and useful work experience for many years to come. Members skills range from acting and directing, light and sound technology, set building and painting, prop making and costume design, box office admin and hospitality.

Members and patrons have been very pro-active in raising money for our Raise the Roof campaign and indomitable when it comes to preserving their beloved theatre. This boost in funding from the Benefact is extremely welcome. The costs of running the theatre are always rising and to keep up the standards we aspire to, no doubt fundraising will remain a fundamental part of what we do. We look forward to providing many more years of first-class theatre in the Wigan borough.
