What our donation will help fund

Roots and Shoots is more than a garden — it’s a place where health, hope, and friendships grow. We’ve created a dedicated community space that blends practical activities, hands-on learning, and social connection to tackle some of the most pressing local challenges: poor health, food insecurity, poverty, and social isolation. Roots and Shoots delivers measurable outcomes through gardening programmes that improves wellbeing and health, increases physical activity, and provides an array of support that does not exist anywhere else locally.

The funding that we have received will help us deliver a schools programme, where children gain the confidence, knowledge and skills to lead healthier lives. It also helps us provide allotment space for young people with special educational needs and disabilities, and along with their families, meet others creating support networks and friendships whilst they are building skills.

We will also be able to support aging gentleman attend a weekly gardening session that allows them to socialise through connecting with others, share traditional skills and learn new ones, all whilst benefiting from the positive impact gardening has on mood and wellbeing.

We are extremely grateful to the Benefact Group for their donation. Their support allows us to create a place where wellbeing and connection can flourish, making a real difference to our local communities. Being able to offer this holistic approach through gardening, helps us tackle multiple issues, with the benefits of engagement extending beyond the immediate experience. Over 300 people will benefit from the space and we will see the impact ripple outwards improving individual wellbeing, strengthening communities, and contributing to a healthier environment.
