What our donation will help fund

The Benefact Trust’s generous support will enable Historic England to deliver a national youth co-design gathering in May 2026, a pivotal part of our new Heritage and Wellbeing programme.

This two-day event will bring together 20 young people from across the country, recruited through heritage youth panels and partner organisations working with underrepresented communities. Through facilitated workshops, participants will explore the role of heritage in supporting wellbeing, identify barriers to access, and co-create practical recommendations for the sector and for policymakers.

The gathering is a crucial opportunity to place young people’s voices at the centre of shaping future heritage and wellbeing initiatives. Their insights will inform the development of a youth-focused evidence brief and a policy note, ensuring that the lived experiences of young people guide sector practice and national strategy.

By supporting this event, Benefact Trust is helping to build a stronger evidence base, amplify youth voice, and create a model for inclusive engagement that will influence heritage and wellbeing work for years to come.
