Speakers Trust

Registered charity number: 1139377
We give young people the confidence, skills and opportunity to speak and be heard. Each year we train over 40,000 young people in public speaking training, helping them transform into confident communicators and giving them the platform to deliver a speech on something they care about.

What our donation will help fund

We want to reach as many young people as possible, transforming our delivery model away from our current process of professional trainers delivering our work and to a new sustainable process. We would achieve this through: digital innovation and the untapped potential within our teaching community.

We want to empower teachers. Through training programmes, educational technology, and digital resources, we will equip teachers across England to become confident public speaking coaches in their schools. This sustainable approach means each pound invested continues generating impact year after year, as trained teachers pass these vital skills to new cohorts of students.

To drive engagement and showcase young voices, we will establish a network of professional 'TEDx-style' speaking platforms across the country. These events will not only provide students with inspiring goals and real-world speaking opportunities but will also create powerful platforms where young people can address issues that matter to them, speaking directly to leaders in business, politics, and their local communities.

Too many young people leave school without the skills and confidence to share their ideas in public, and our Speak Out Challenge programme addresses this by offering training and events to help state school students develop public speaking skills. The Movement for Grant will help us to take Speak Out Challenge to schools across the country, so that thousands more young people build this essential life skill
