Kindness Homeless Street Team Glasgow SCIO

Registered charity number: SC050935
Our charity helps people suffering poverty, homelessness and vulnerability. We feed around 200 people a hot meal each week at our soup kitchen and have a food/clothing bank 4 days/week where we help around 200 every month. We also have a community space where we offer free breakfast clubs, lunches and put on fitness, wellbeing, cooking classes and offer coursers to help with areas of mental health.

What our donation will help fund

Some of the funding will go straight out to buy food and provisions for our vulnerable and homeless service users. Our queues are getting longer and it will only get worse due to the current economic climate so we need as much help via funding that we can get to allow us to continue to help as many people as possible.

We also help reintroduce our service users into society by choosing a different pathway with providing an amazing support network. Around two thirds of our volunteers are in recovery or been homeless so our service is a life line to many, many people.

Going forward our longer term goal is to use funding to allow us to increase wellbeing events and support from our community space where we can offer food in a sheltered environment where people are protected from the elements of adverse weather. We offer well-being evenings, fitness classes and chats to help improve people’s overall mental health at present and would like to enhance this area further so we get to the root causes of peoples problems as we don't just want to be a quick fix.

The pay it forward grant will be a huge support to us as we help the most vulnerable people of Glasgow. Kindness Homeless Street Team Glasgow provides a soup kitchen where we feed around 200 people hot meals each week, we have a food/clothing bank open 4days/week as well where we help in excess of 200 people each month and we have our community space where our footfall in in excess of 500 people every month. From here we offer fitness/well being events/breakfast clubs/lunches and so much more to show kindness and support to our services users and the surrounding community. Kindness offers an inclusive service to our cities most vulnerable, lonely and financially struggling people so this grant will be a huge support in continuing with the much needed services that we offer. We are a grass roots charity doing their best for the community - thank you so much for you support. It will make a difference to many.
