Anam Cara – Parental and Sibling Bereavement Support Ltd

Registered charity number: 20068592
Anam Cara provides peer support services across Ireland for parents after the death of a child, offering understanding, comfort, and hope through all stages of grief.

What our donation will help fund

£1,000 will fund the training of all new Volunteer Parents at Anam Cara for one year. These volunteers are themselves bereaved parents who have completed their own journey through grief and are now ready to support others facing the devastating loss of a child. Your support enables us to provide specialist training, supervision, and ongoing development to ensure they can offer compassionate, peer-led support in a safe and informed way.

By funding this essential training, your donation directly helps Anam Cara expand and strengthen our network of support across Ireland. Volunteer Parents are at the heart of what we do—they bring lived experience, understanding, and hope to those feeling isolated in their grief. Thanks to your generosity, we can ensure every new volunteer is fully equipped to walk alongside others, offering empathy, connection, and a lifeline at a time when it is most needed.

At Anam Cara, we support parents through the unimaginable grief of losing a child, offering a lifeline of understanding and hope from those who have walked the same path. Our peer support services are a vital space where bereaved parents can feel heard, supported, and less alone. The generous grant from the Benefact Group’s Movement for Good will make a real difference to our work—helping us train new Volunteer Parents, expand our reach, and ensure that no parent has to face their loss in isolation. We are deeply grateful for this support, which allows us to continue providing free, accessible services across the island of Ireland.
