What our donation will help fund
We intend using the funds we receive towards our Play Therapy service. Play therapy is a form of psychotherapy primarily used with children to help them express their feelings, process experiences, and develop coping mechanisms through play. Since children often lack the verbal skills to articulate complex emotions or experiences, play becomes a natural medium for communication.
Play therapy is profoundly important for children affected by a cancer diagnosis or bereavement due to cancer, as it provides a safe, developmentally appropriate way to process overwhelming emotions and experiences. 12–20 sessions of play therapy are often recommended for children coping with more complex emotional challenges, such as grief or anxiety related to a cancer diagnosis.
The funds received will go along way towards covering the costs for play therapy for a year in our support centre.
