Inspired by a Healing Animals Organisation trip to Cyprus in 2023, this project addresses the urgent need for a calm, nurturing space where rescued dogs can decompress and begin healing. Many dogs struggle in traditional kennels, unable to relax or show their true personalities, making adoption or fostering difficult. In response, STAR (Stronger Together Animal Rescue) and HAO collaborated to create interim kennels at Willow Cottage, under the care of Susan Kazara—an experienced Animal Healer and long-time STAR supporter.
These kennels offer quiet, grassy spaces, daily one-on-one attention, and exposure to balanced family dogs without forced interaction. The goal is to bridge the emotional gap between neglect and a loving home, giving each dog their best chance at a safe future. With £5000 from the Benefact Trust covering half the costs and the remainder raised by STAR and HAO, construction is now underway. By autumn, dogs will begin arriving from Cyprus, marking a new chapter in compassionate rescue. The thoughtful design reflects a deep commitment to emotional wellbeing, healing, and sustainable care—values shared by the organisations and their supporters.
