What our donation will help fund

The funds donated by the Benefact Group will allow us to continue supporting older people in the Isle of Wight community. The donated funds will support us in our charitable activities that rely solely on donations. This includes our Information and Signposting phonelines, that receive over 15,000 calls for support every year - each call costs Age UK Isle of Wight £3 to respond to - so £1000 is going to make a huge difference! We can also use this money to support our Good Neighbour Scheme, which is in place for those in the community who are isolated or lonely - we do these through a range of befriending options, including social events, telephone befriending and in-person befriending.

It costs Age UK Isle of Wight approximately £3 to respond to a call into our information phone lines. Whether its a simple query or the start of more complex support path, each call representing the beginning of a journey for an older person in their time of need. With over 15,000 calls into the charity last year, these funds are going to contribute to us meeting the rising demand for our services and to continue being here for our local community when they need us most.
