At Harrow Giving, we recognise the importance community-based organisations play in our borough. We fund and support them in addressing social challenges from the pandemic, improving lives, and creating opportunities for the people who need it the most.
The Harrow Giving Community Fund provides what small charities and community organisations tell us they need most; the thing that will keep them running when times are tough, the unicorn of the funding world - 'Unrestricted' grants that simply support them as brilliant, much valued parts of our community.
This donation could...
- Provide tea and cake for vulnerable people visiting a warm hub this winter
- Plant more trees and flowers in our parks for spring
- Run wellness sessions for those facing cancer
- Bring people struggling with their mental health together to sing in a choir
Harrow Giving supports grass roots charities include these three organisations.
Marjorie Manu from The African Cultural Association, which is being funded for work focusing on improving mental health said, “Mental health struggles don’t keep to a 9-to-5 schedule, and many people in Harrow face barriers to support - whether due to stigma, isolation, or lack of weekend services. This funding allows us to reach those who need it most, providing safe spaces for connection, movement, and conversation.”
Mashal will be supporting the mental health of refugees from Afghanistan who have experienced trauma, whilst Ignite Youth will be focusing on supporting the mental health of young black men, running sports and guided sessions. Calvin Moses, Youth Worker with Ignite Youth Services said, “the RESTORE project gives young black men more confidence to be open about their feelings and personal life – being able to speak to peers and positive role models fosters a sense of belonging and support.”
SRISHTI Yuva Culture will be running a 7-month project empowering Harrow’s South Asian community to combat diabetes, heart disease, and mental health challenges through healthy cooking lessons, nutrition talks, and dance workshops. “We’re excited to see how healthy cooking and dance, the two things so deeply rooted in South Asian culture, can become powerful tools for physical and mental well-being. This project is more than just fitness; it is about celebrating wellness through tradition.” – Monisha Bharadwaj, Award Winning Chef, Dancer, Writer and Workshop Facilitator
