St. Joseph’s Hospice has been providing compassionate end-of-life nursing care to local families across Merseyside and West Lancashire for over 50 years. Each year, the hospice cares for around 150 patients with life-limiting, end of life conditions, and supports over 500 loved ones and family members, all from the 31-bed hospice in Thornton, near Crosby.
This money will make a big difference to the lives of people from our community who are receiving end of life care here at the hospice. It will help to fund high quality care and ensure that our patients can spend precious time with their loved ones in this beautiful and peaceful environment.
We are an independent charity and it costs over £4 million every year, or £11,500 a day, to keep the hospice running. This means that we rely heavily on our local communities and businesses to support us through donations, wills & legacies, fundraising and volunteering. Grants and donations like this ensure that we can continue caring for our community and keep hospice care free and accessible to everyone in Merseyside and West Lancashire. We’d like to thank everyone who voted for us to receive this grant.
