Pussycat Lodge has been rescuing and rehoming cats and kittens from our current site in the Brentwood area for over 25 years, rehoming over 300 cats every year, all completely volunteer run and funded with donations from our supporters.
We are have 40-50 cats and kittens under our care at any time. As well as all the usual overheads of food, fuel etc to pay for, our vet bill averages over £5000 per month. We are also fundraising to be able to relocate the rescue, as the property it’s in is being sold by the owner.
The award from The Benefact Group is a big help in enabling the rescue to continue helping and caring for as many cats as we possibly can.
Pussycat Lodge very much appreciates the donation from the Benefact Group. We are a completely volunteer run rescue, rehoming over 300 cats a year and providing a safe haven for cats in desperate need of help. Just our vet bills are upwards of £5000 per month. Running costs are on top of that! In addition to this, the rescue is having to fundraise to find a new home, as the existing premises is being sold by the owner.
Without a rescue centre we won’t be able to continue our vital work, so we’re committed to finding a new site and continuing to save the lives of the hundreds of cats every year that need our help.
It can be forgotten that, behind every cat that comes in, there is a person desperate for help too. Whether it’s because a cat’s owner has passed away, gone into care, been evicted or someone has found a stray, Pussycat Lodge provides an invaluable service to the larger community. We put people’s minds at rest that their beloved pet or the ‘badly in need of help’ stray, will be well looked after and loved.
The donation from The Movement for Good Awards will help to ensure we can carry on helping as many cats as we currently do.
