Protestant Aid

Registered charity number: 20000912
Established as a charity over 180 years ago to relieve deprivation in Ireland, Protestant Aid treats all genuine calls for help equally, regardless of religious, ethnic or social backgrounds.

What our donation will help fund

This generous donation from Benefact allows us to assist families in financial difficulty. This kindness can make a cold home warm, replace a broken kitchen appliance, put food on an empty table or fund a utility bill. It is difficult to understand how this donation can bring such huge comfort and solace to distressed situations, but that is exactly what it does. All funds are distributed without regard to denomination or ethnicity - we are about meeting need, wherever and whenever it exists.

It is important to recognise that behind each of the applications we receive, is a person or a family trying to manage their lives in a sea of rising living costs. The worry of ongoing financial difficulties, poverty and lack of certainty about the future takes a huge toll on mental health and are grim problems that deserve serious help and much empathy. As always, describing situations of financial difficulty is not where it stops for Protestant Aid. The generosity of The Benefact Group provides encouragement to us as well as practical support to those in need, as clearly shown in a recent note from a Church of Ireland Primary School Principal: “I would like to sincerely thank you for your incredible kindness towards our pupils. I cannot overstate the difference you have made in their lives and am touched by your ongoing support. The arrival today of a cheque for an Autism Assessment resulted in tears all round. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.” This award helps to alleviate hardship and provide solutions where none would otherwise exist, helping to bring hope to those who need it most in the most relevant and practical ways. This support doesn't just impact the present; it paves the way for a brighter future for many families.
