The Willow Tree Centre

Registered charity number: 1143460
The Willow Tree Pregnancy Crisis Centre was founded in 2005 to provide a professional and confidential service available to anyone experiencing unintended pregnancy, pregnancy loss or difficulties following an abortion.

What our donation will help fund

Our service is free of charge but we have calculated that each of the counselling hours we offer costs us in the region of £30. This calculation takes into account the general running costs of the Centre, telephone charges, internet, publicity, training, insurance etc. In the last year we have had approximately 620 contacts with clients, on the phone, via Zoom or face-to-face. We have a volunteer team of 15. All our volunteers undergo specialist training and commit to attending on-going professional supervision and continuous professional development (CPD) sessions. They have all gone through DBS checking and had safeguarding training. In 2024 we had 141 new clients some of whom had to spend a number of weeks on our waiting list before they could start their support. This award will effectively fund 34 client support sessions and hopefully reduce the waiting time for some clients.

Clients are so appreciative of our free, specialised help. It helps provide vital support for those going through a range of different emotions and facing difficult times such as returning to work, anniversaries and special occasions such as family weddings or birthdays, particularly over the first year after loss. Clients report reduced depression & anxiety levels, as well as improved self esteem and more positive mental health and wellbeing. One client said recently "Without your help I don't really know where I'd be right now. Thanks for listening, supporting and helping me through such a difficult and painful time".
