MileShyClub

Registered charity number: 1183949
The MileShyClub is a charity that supports people to get active to help improve their physical and mental health. We specifically focus on supporting people who have never exercised before and are known for our beginner running and walking clubs, as well as our mental health groups. The charity is volunteer led, with over 120 volunteers giving their time weekly to support their local communities. Our service particularly supports people with long term health conditions, those from under represented communities and people with disabilities. At the MileShyClub, everyone is welcome and no one gets left behind.

What our donation will help fund

We will use the donation to help:

- Support the mental health group costs
- Fund the continuation of our indoor women's only couch to 5k run club in Longsight
- Fund our annual trip to the countryside for Muslim women.

We were very excited to receive this award, at a time when many small charities are struggling to find funding. Our charity supports people to get more active through a variety a ways, but we're mostly known for our 15 beginner run clubs across Greater Manchester. We specialise in beginner running ensuring that no one gets left behind and at the time of writing have seen 560 people in the last 6 months sign up to complete Couch to 5k with us. This grant was a wonderful surprise and is going to be used in a variety of ways - it'll fund our end of year celebration for our mental health group for those in drug and alcohol recovery, it'll go towards keeping our Longsight indoor running group going, and if there's anything left, we'll use it towards the transport costs for our annual trip to the Peak District for our Old Trafford walkers.
