Animals in Distress (Torbay & Westcountry)

Registered charity number: 1105487
Animals in Distress is a local animal welfare charity that takes in, cares for and rehomes hundreds of cats, dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs every year. Animals come to our Devon Rescue Centre for a variety of reasons, including bereavement, illness, breakdown of relationships, financial hardship, straying, cruelty, neglect or abandonment. We aim to never turn away an animal in distress, and it is our policy to give them the best possible care while they are waiting to be rehomed. Every effort is made to ensure that prospective owners find the right pet for them. Home checks are carried out, and all animals are checked by our veterinary surgeon. All cats and dogs are microchipped, vaccinated and neutered before rehoming. We rely almost entirely on our generous supporters in the local community and beyond, without whom we wouldn’t be able to provide this vital service.

What our donation will help fund

Your kind donation will help with our heating bills to keep the animals in our care warm this winter.

In recent times we have seen a big increase in animals arriving in rescue with emergency or chronic medical problems, as their owners could not afford the vet fees and had to make the difficult decision to give up their pets. Your kind donation will also help towards our vet fees, enabling us to help more animals this winter. Thank you so much.

We are so grateful for this grant from Benefact Group Movement for Good. We are a small local charity taking in hundreds of unwanted and abandoned dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs every year. We provide them with the best possible care while we find them their new, forever homes. All dogs, cats and rabbits are neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, treated for parasites and receive whatever additional veterinary care they need. We rely solely on the kind support of our local community and beyond, to enable us to continue to offer this vital service. This grant will make a huge difference to our heating and veterinary bills this winter. Thank you so much to Benefact Group and everyone who nominated us for the award - we are so grateful.
