St John’s Hospice provides care, compassion and support for patients with life shortening illnesses across the South Lakes, North Lancashire and parts of North Yorkshire. Our services cover a population area of 250,000 and we have been caring for our community every minute of every day since 1986.
St John’s Hospice has been part of the local community for almost 40 years and provides vital service to patients and families all over our community. Our aim is to ensure that on the journey towards the end of life, we provide the right care, in the right place, at the right time. Our care will always be free to those who need it, but it isn’t cost free. It costs nearly £800 per hour to run the hospice with only around a quarter of this amount provided by local NHS funding. The remainder must be raised through events, community donations, grants and legacies.
