Northumberland Greyhound Rescue is a registered charity run solely by volunteers who are enthusiastically committed to re-homing ex-racing greyhounds when they reach the end of their racing life.
The organisation was originally started over 20 years ago to help re-home greyhounds from independent 'flapping' tracks but, as welfare is improving and flapping tracks are now in the minority, most of our dogs are sourced direct from trainers at professional licensed tracks throughout the North East.
This donation is very much appreciated by us as a small independent charity who invest majority of our donations into helping pay kennelling and any veterinary costs which are incurred while the Greyhounds in our care wait for their forever homes. The charity is devoted to making this period as short and happy as possible and we utilise dedicated kennels in the Northumberland countryside where they are fed and cared for until such time as they are given the chance of a new life with loving new owners. This extra boost to our funds will help us invest in renewing our storage shed for our supplies such as cosy bedding, coats, leads and of course tasty treats which our dogs love.
We cannot express how grateful we are to receive such contributions. A large part of what we do is to help raise awareness of ex-racing Greyhounds as great family pets through our matching and rehoming of the retired dogs in our care with their ideal new forever homes once they have finished their racing careers. The grant we have been awarded will be a great support with covering costs which are incurred while the Greyhounds in our care wait for their forever homes especially with a new storage shed which we really could do with
