Ectodermal Dysplasia Society

Registered charity number: 1089135
We are a dedicated UK charity committed to supporting families and individuals affected by the rare genetic condition, Ectodermal Dysplasia (ED). Our mission is to raise awareness, provide comprehensive support and advice, and connect our community with leading medical professionals. We understand the unique challenges faced by those living with ED, and we are here to help. Whether it is guidance on day-to-day management, educational resources, or assistance in liaising with schools to ensure children receive the proper care and attention they need, we are by our families side every step of the way. Together, we can increase understanding, continue building a supportive community, and improve the quality of life for everyone affected by ED.

What our donation will help fund

The Movement for Good donation allowed us to make a significant difference for our community during the 2024 ED Christmas party. This year’s event, held in December 2024, was a much-needed celebration for those living with ectodermal dysplasia as well as their families and supporters. The funds from your generous donation enabled us to create a supportive, festive environment where individuals could come together in a safe space, enjoy a delicious meal, and participate in various activities designed to foster connection and wellbeing.

The funds were utilised to:

- Entertainment: A magician who captivated attendees with his fire-breathing skills and magic tricks.
- Activities for Children: A talented face painter, delighted the children with her artistic designs.
- Community Engagement: The event facilitated connections among new and returning families.
- Medical Advisory Board (MAB) Interaction: Attendees had the opportunity to consult with our MAB members, gaining valuable advice and support.
- Festive Surprises: The children enjoyed fun activities, and we were thrilled by a special appearance from Father Christmas bringing gifts.

Your donation also contributed to the success of our tombola and raffle, which, combined with merchandise sales, helped us raise an impressive £2,322. These funds will directly benefit our ED community, supporting ongoing initiatives and services. The financial assistance was invaluable in making this event possible, allowing us to focus on bringing joy, support, and togetherness to those who often feel isolated because of their condition.

The £1,000 grant from Movement for Goods has been instrumental in helping us bring our community together at a time when support is most needed. As an organisation dedicated to supporting those affected by ectodermal dysplasia, we aim to create safe spaces where individuals can be a part of the majority, rather than the minority they often experience. This funding allowed us to host our annual ED Christmas party, a vital event that offers both emotional and practical support to individuals and families facing the challenges of ED. With your help, we can continue to make a lasting impact, offering not just care, but a sense of belonging and understanding for those who need it most
