The money will go directly towards helping guests who use our drop-in, The Meanwhile. Some of these guests have been visiting us nightly for months, some sadly even years. We are open every single evening, 365 days a year, being there for our guests whenever they need us.
Our drop-in service offers guests a chance to find respite and refuge from the daily struggles and dangers of being street homeless. It is a safe space for them to get warm, eat a hot, home-cooked meal, access our medic and showering facilities, as well as receiving guidance from our team who are on hand to signpost guests to other essential homelessness services.
On a deeper level, it provides a sanctuary for their emotional well-being.
Having a consistent presence in their lives, where they can watch TV, play chess, chat with friends and find sanctuary, is a crucial part of their journeys. We feel this is just as important part of their care as attending to their physical needs.
