The 2874 Trust are staging an ‘Introduction to Heritage Engineering’ Skills Day at the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway. In order to facilitate the training, the charity needs to source significant items of both specialist equipment and raw materials. The £1,000 donation from Ecclesiastical will allow the timely acquisition of the gunmetal castings that will be machined (by volunteers) for the windows of the locomotive cab that is currently under construction, and will be used in the Skills Day display. There will be opportunities to get up close to the fleet of working steam and heritage diesel locomotives, as well those that are in the process of a heavy overhaul or restoration.
